I have decided to look at a second of Inge Prader’s photograph which has been inspired by Gustav Klimt.
The original is iconic. Klimt’s “The Kiss” is by many considered to be the greatest and most influential painting ever, even more significant than the “Mona Lisa”.
This vivid recreation by Prader is undisputedly inspired by Klimt. The erotic sense of human touch and love are seen in the tender embrace of the couple.
The figures have ornate elaborate hairstyling and their clothing incorporates the rectangular blocks of silver and black shimmering colour. The work sparkles and the figures are highlighted by the clever use of a muted bronze backdrop.
Prader has produced a sensuous piece full of clever details that show how she was inspired by the artist.
However there are noticeable differences from the original. Both figures are standing and not lying. As they are standing they are not resting on the flowers, instead the flowers are incorporated at the bottom of the figures richly decorated clothing. Like her previous work inspired by Klimt she draws on Klimt’s use of lavish colours of gold, blues and reds.
